Founded in Ireland with a simple belief that great software changes lives. What started as a small Irish software company has grown into a team of 150+ engineers, designers, and strategists delivering 350+ products for enterprises and startups across Ireland and Europe.

The person behind the company
Our CEO still teaches full-time
Ciarán Stone runs Square Root Solutions and teaches full-time at Greenhills Community College, a DEIS school in Dublin. Not one, then the other, both, at once. He's never written a line of code, and he's the first to say so, what he brings is scoping and sales, informed by firsthand education experience almost nobody else selling into Irish schools has.

In 2014, Ciarán won Kilkenny's Young Entrepreneur of the Year. He used the €10,000 prize to build a GAA app that grew to roughly 100,000 downloads and reached number one on Ireland's sports app charts, before it crashed under a team that couldn't deliver.

Even the name ties back to the classroom. Ciarán wanted something that sounded technical but stayed familiar to everyone, so he thought of maths. It was meant to be a placeholder until something better came along. It stuck instead.

Why we actually understand schools
Schools don't run like businesses, and that catches a lot of founders out. Access, budgets, and admin noise are things outsiders get wrong, until they've lived inside one. It's shaped how we scope and price every education project we build, including a full timetabling redesign at Ciarán's own school that freed up support hours for students who'd otherwise have nowhere to go.
